Stage 0 Melanoma: Melanoma in Situ
Stage 0 melanoma is very early stage disease known as melanoma in situ (Latin for "in place"). Patients with melanoma in situ are classified as Tis (tumor in situ). The tumor is limited to the epidermis with no invasion of surrounding tissues, lymph nodes, or distant sites. Melanoma in situ is considered to be very low risk for disease recurrence or spread to lymph nodes or distant sites.
